"Therefore, I, the Lord, justify you, and your brethren of my church, in befriending that law which is the constitutional law of the land; And as pertaining to law of man, whatsoever is more or less than this, cometh of evil."
Welcome!
"No true Latter-Day Saint can or will do other than reverence the Constitution; each will do all in his power to save it from pollution or destruction." - President J. Reuben Clark, April 1941
Those of us who are Latter-Day Saints living in the United States have been doubly blessed: We enjoy the blessings of political liberty, purchased by the blood of our nation's founders. We enjoy the fruits of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, purchased by His own redeeming blood. With those blessings come great responsibilities. One of those responsibilities is to defend and preserve the Constitution.
“Even this nation will be on the verge of crumbling to pieces and tumbling to the ground and when the Constitution is on the brink of ruin this people will be the staff upon which the nation shall lean and they shall bear the Constitution away from the very verge of destruction.” - President Joseph Smith, Jr.
If we are to succeed, we must understand what it is that we are saving. This blog is our small contribution to help us be prepared for what we must do.
"Hence we say, that the Constitution of the United States is a glorious standard; it is founded in the wisdom of God. It is a heavenly banner; it is to all those who are privileged with the sweets of liberty, like the cooling shades and refreshing waters of a great rock in a thirsty and weary land. It is like a great tree under whose branches men from every clime can be shielded from the burning rays of the sun." - Joseph Smith, Jr.
